Waste not, want not. More than just a proverb, it’s also a great way of saving the planet. So count us in.
The Bridge Group works hard to keep waste levels to a minimum. In practice, here are some of the things we do as part of our everyday routine:
- Use energy-efficient computers with a single power supply
- Turn off computers, printers and other office machines when not in use
- Switch off all office lights at the end of the day
- Encourage staff to car share when driving to meetings with clients, or use public transport for longer journeys
- Conserve water usage
- Promote a cycle-to-work scheme for employees
- Offer advice to clients on alternatives to printed products, where this will achieve their objectives
- Only print emails and attachments when absolutely necessary, and use ‘green messages’ encouraging other people not to print too
- Send most design files via internet file transfer from our studio, rather using CDs
- Use electronic proofs of work rather than paper
- Opt out of unwanted mailing lists and junk mail
- Use solar-powered calculators
- Prepare fresh lunches on-site (with local produce) to cut down on unnecessary trips and packaging.
